The dial, is mounted on the south wall of the chapel. It is of irregular shape, but inside a rough pediment is inscribed ‘Challain- / la-Potherie’, the village in western France with which Somersham is twinned. Upright hours VI – XII – IV – VI. Hour lines to a semi-circle (not scribed) around the root of the rod gnomon, and no subdivisions.
