This is a multiple dial with 20 faces, 18 bearing location names. It was made for R T Wroe Walton Esq. in 1841. The places named are: London, Moscow, Alan’s Park Ceylon, Mount Ararat, Cape Isabella, Buenos Aires, Hermit’s Isle, NM of New Zealand, West of East Cape, Calcutta, Jerusalem, Cape of Good Hope, Rome, St Helena, St Pedro, Washington, Mexico and Fort Nelson.
The dial is mounted on a horizontal stone base which bears compass points and an unusually placed “Watch Faster/Slower” scale for the Equation of Time. The base also records a restoration by Roger McCaully Lord in 1986. The dial was reported to be damaged and dismantled in 2007, but it appeared to have been fully restored by September 2009 and is now in excellent condition.
