Octagonal drum with 2 facets on each side with 8 vertical doals, sunk dials E & W where noses of carved faces act as gnomons; Coats of Arms and Heraldic devices, surmounted by carved obelisk supported by 4 bearded heads, and resting on 4 winged figures. The whole structure is 15 ft high.
A 19th century copy of the dial at Newbattle Abbey (SRN 1493), made for Lord Home at Douglas Castle in 1889; Coats of Arms of Douglas family. Ball and finial on top missing.
