BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Merseyside

The dial stands on a circular section bulbous baluster pedestal designed for a larger dial, in the garden, now under trees. It is signed in a cartouche at the south ’F Barker & Son / Scientific Instrument / Maker / Clerkenwell / LONDON’. The centre is filled with a large 8-point compass rose, labelled to NE etc. The gnomon is missing. The hours are IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the outside, with a noon gap, and divided to half hours, marked with a fleur-de-lys, and to 15 and 5 minutes.
