BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

This horizontal in the garden is clearly of recent manufacture. It uses Roman numerals from V—VII with IIII for 4pm, read from the outside, the chapter ring being divided to five minutes only. There is a 16-point compass rose, labelled to 8 points (NW etc). ’CHARLECOTE’ is inscribed to the south of the gnomon, read from the south, and below that is ’LATITUDE 52 12 N LONGITUDE 1 37 W’. In the centre of the south side is a square diamond-oriented cartouche bearing three fish shapes, as depicted on the Lucy Coat of Arms, and four crosslets. Around the north of the gnomon is an EOT table labelled ’WATCH FASTER [or SLOWER] THAN DIAL’ showing whole minute corrections for each day, and even including seconds corrections around Feb 10. The table includes the longitude adjustment of 6.4 minutes for Charlecote Park.
