Dial in Wiltshire

The dial stands on a short square white pillar at the southeast corner of the house. It has south, east and west faces, and a horizontal dial on the top surface. The south face is marked ’S’ at the top. It has hour lines for 6am to 6pm, only the 6 and 12 lines labelled with upright Arabic numerals. The east face has ’E’ at the top right corner and ’am’ at the lower left. It has hour ines for 4am ro 11am, 6 to 11 labelled with upright Arabic numerals. The brass gnomon is a solid plate with a ’W’ nodus notch, and one date curve marked, at a winter date. The horizontal dial appears to have hour lines for 4am to 8pm, none of them labelled. The solid brass gnomon has a ball nodus but any date curves were not noted. All the furniture is incised and stained red.
