BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Surrey

The dial celebrates a Ruby Wedding Anniversary. It is made from Welsh blue/black slate with a brass rod gnomon with nodus. Across the top is ’David & Ann’ in white and across the base is a small white ’1980 / 2020’ flanked by ’40 Yrs’ in a large font and stained red. Gold-leafed hour lines run to an unmarked semi-ellipse around the gnomon root, marking 6am to 6pm, with 7am, 9am, 12 noon and 3pm labelled with white upright Arabic numerals, and 5pm decorated with a yellow and green daffodil. A white declination line is shown and labelled ’5 April’. The eastern edge of the plate is marked "dah MMXX Lat. 51° 21’ N". The design, delineation, carving and metalwork are all by David Hawker.
