BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Parish Church, Maxton

The sundial at the west end of the south wall has an inscription which is eroding but it is dated 1901. The bird cage belfry on the west gable has a bell inscribed ’Soli deo gloria Ian Bvgerhvys me fecit 1609’ (To God alone be the glory, John Burgerhuys made me), and there is an outside bell rope.
