BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Devon

The dial is on the wall at the north end of the house, and commemorates the golden wedding anniversary of the owners. Their initials and the relevant dates ’JB KB / 1973 2023’ are across the base, surrounding the family crest of a 6-point etoile on a wreath. Upright Arabic hour numerals 12 noon to 8pm are in the base and right hand borders, with hour lines and half-hours marked by small diamonds. The stainless steel bar gnomon has a 20mm disc nodus, for declination curves for the summer solstice (red), equinoxes (green) and the wedding date (14th December) (gold). The other furniture is of light grey painted incisions with some gilding.
