BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is on the south frontage at first floor level, between windows above the front door. Across the top is the date 1781, and below is a panel with ’Badger Gate was /built in the year 1781 / by John Wearing’. The dial has VI - XII - IIII - VI in raised numerals which may be applied metal. They are aligned to the hour lines which are also raised. In place of a gnomon there is a short horizontal rod on an arched support. This is probably the support for a missing gnomon style, or possibly the tip of the horizontal rod is to be taken as a nodus from which the time is read.
