BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Borders Region

The dial stands on a simple circular-sectioned pillar with a deep top stone and two deep but narrow steps. It shows hours IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the outside, with a noon gap and divided to 30 and 15 minutes inside the chapter ring, and 30 and 10 minutes (labelled in Arabic 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60), and then to 2 minutes in two concentric rings offset to give individual minute readings. At the centre is a 16-point compass rose, labelled to NNE etc, and in the chapter ring gap, read from the north, is ’F. Watkins / LONDON’. The un-pierced gnomon has short quarter-round, square-ended supports, but is mounted 180° out of position.
