BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is near the Colonnade and Groyne no. 69. To the south of the date scale a plate reads ’This sundial was presented / jointly by the Rotary Clubs / of / Bexhill & Senlac / in celebration of / Queen Elizabeth II / Diamond Jubilee 2012’ (all in upper case characters). It shows the time with black Arabic numerals on square white marble plates, flush with the tarmac, for 3am to 9pm, using the 24-hour clock (eg 21 for 9pm). This dial replaces the original Jubilee sundial of 2002 (SRN 6945) that was removed during the changes to the promenade along West Parade during 2010-11. Although the local press described SRN 6945 as having been repositioned, the 2002 and 2012 versions are different – for example, this one is flush with the ground, not raised, and shows only GMT, rather than GMT plus BST.
