BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Waterfront, Cosheston

This small dial stands on a substantial constructed stone cylindrical plinth with a plaque having the Prince of Wales motif, inscribed with ’GWOBR AWARD’, and the date 1973 (Gwobr is Welsh for Award). A similar plinth and plaque can be seen at Hodgeston, some 5km to the south, SRN 3809. The dial has a sun face at the centre, inscribed ’COSHESTON C.C. 2019’, and the motto around the perimeter ’Let others tell of storms and showers, I’ll only count your sunny hours’. It has the false date 1767 at the south, and uses Arabic hour numerals for 4am to 8pm, read from the outside, with a noon gap and divided to 30, 15 and 7.5 minutes. The original ’knuckle-duster’ gnomon has been replaced with a thicker Perspex one which swivels freely about a horizontal axis.
