BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Common, Kings Langley

The dial on the north side of the Common is made from Forest of Dean sandstone components 20 x 20 x 5 cm, the spaces filled in with red concrete block paviours. The enclosing circle is 7 m in diameter, with semi-major axis 3 m (winter hours), and 2.25 m (summer). There are stones for cardinal points, as well as Bailey points for sunrise and sunset times and directions. The date 2020 on a sandstone component near the north extremity indicates the intended completion but this was delayed due to Covid-19. A stainless steel plaque is attached to a sandstone slab near the south perimeter which gives instructions for the use of the sundial and records the contributors to the scheme.
