BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This dial replaces the previous one at SRN 5063. It is made from Forest of Dean Pennant sandstone, with hour points 240 x 240 x 78 mm, set in a diamond formation. It is set within the existing circle of paviours 6.8 m diameter, with semi-major axes of 3m (Winter) and 2m (Summer).
There are stones for cardinal points as well as Bailey points for sunrise and sunset times and directions. At the northern end of the date scale is the original polished black granite slab (refurbished) covering a time capsule sunk in 2000. The slab links Ringwood (Hampshire) to six other ‘Ringwoods’ world-wide giving pointed directions and time differences on GMT.
