BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is in the garden, sitting on a 1040mm high stone pillar. It is inscribed ’Made for MxFx Corran 1809’ (Mr Felix?), and around the top of the octagonal stone pillar is: ’Let others tell of storms and showers I’ll only mark your sunny hours’. It shows 4am to 8pm in Roman numerals with IIII for four and it has a noon gap to compensate for the gnomon thickness. Inside the Chapter ring there are two fractional time rings, marked at 5 mins and 15 mins intervals. The continuous hourlines are embellished with thistles (a Scottish connection perhaps, but the maker is unknown). Ref: Michael Harley, www.sundials-ireland.com
