BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Shore Front Green, Buncrana

The sundial is situated on the shore of Lough Swilly at Buncrana on the Inishowen Penninsula. It was delineated by Piers Nicholson and Harriet James, and designed and built by George O’Hagan of Crana Engineering Ltd. The four tall, unidentified, rough hewn pillar stones possibly indicate the North, South, East and West points of the compass, the small smooth unidentified rectangular pillar stones have no obvious time or directional value. The unidentified rectangular flat slabs may be hour indicators. A nearby information plaque has a table that shows the watch time at which solar noon occurs throughout the year, at ten day intervals. More information requested on the delineation. Ref: Michael Harley, www.sundials-ireland.com
