BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Built in 1729 to replace an earlier church, the Duneane Parish Church (C.of I.) has a vertical south facing slate dial at a height of approximately 4 metres that bears the inscriptions "DUNEAN CHURCH" and "Latitude 54..." It has time lines from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. marked by Roman numerals with XI instead of IX for 9. The hours are subdivided into 15 min divisions. It has a ’noon gap’ to compensate for the original (now missing) gnomon thickness. The dial was damaged when the original gnomon was removed. The incorrectly mounted replacement renders the dial incapable of telling the time.
