BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Helen’s Church, Stapleford

The dial is above the south door to the Memorial Chapel of 1923. Across the top is the motto ’Vigila Oraque’ (Watch and Pray) in Gothic letters. There is a semi-sunburst at the gnomon root. The hours shown are VI - VI divided into halves and the numerals at the sides are tilted in a rather haphazard manner. There is a noon gap to compensate for the gnomon’s width. The (false) date 1679 is inscribed below the gnomon. The dial is model number 4206 from Pearson Page.
