BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Borders General Hospital, Melrose

This modern sundial is located outside the chaplaincy centre in a secluded corner called Marlies garden. It is dedicated to the memory of Dr Marlies Eenhuizen-Graham. The dial is symbolic only, the gnomon casting its shadow across an arc marked with a few un-numbered ticks. Below is an illustration of a figure in a landscape with a moon, or sun, and a bird, and the inscription ’Nieuwe horizon / licht op’.
