BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Cottage, Vernham Dean

The arch-topped dial may be made of terra-cotta, and is mounted on the flint wall of the cottage. At the top is ’SOL / SOLUS SOLES / SOLARI’, and there is a couchant lion in relief at each side of the gnomon root. Full length hour and half-hour lines run out to the horse-shoe shaped chapter ring, with numerals VIII - XII - IIII separated by + for half hours.
