BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Vigean’s Church, Angus

The dial is a square slab of red sandstone with moulded edges and a circular head piece. It is mounted on the stone wall of the church and protected by a lead rain shield. Across the top is ’My days are like a shadow that declineth’ (Psalm cii,11). Around a small circle at the gnomon root is ’LAT 56 34 36 N’ and below that the date ’1871’. The upright hour numerals are V - XII - IV - VI, divided to half and quarter hours. Ref: The Book of Sun-Dials, Gatty, 1900, p334
