BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Surrey

The sundial is on the wall of the east wing of the building - on the right hand side of main photo. In the centre of the dialplate is an illustration of a child riding a duck. Across the top, in very small lettering, are ’REIGATE PRIORY’ and ’51 16 N. 0 12 W’. The dial shows VII - XII - IV - V, divided to half and quarter hours, with 1pm on the vertical to give BST. Below the chapter ring is a table of the EoT for eight selected dates, with minutes of correction, to be interpolated. Below is ’Sundial shows BST, or GMT + 1 hour’.
