BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is mounted flush in the stone rear wall of the Heritage Centre. It was a present to the town from its Breton twin, Pluguffan, near Quimper. The words in red across the top read: ’PAGOMZER EUS AN HEOL / R WELER E SKLERI JENN’, and mean something like ’Smile and the sun shines with you’. The dial uses upright red Arabic numerals for 6am to 6pm with a circle for noon. The gnomon is broken, only a stub remaining.
