St Mary’s Church, Thornton Watlass

The rectangular dial plate is embedded in the apex of the stone wall of the south porch. The dial shows 6am to 6pm with upright Roman numerals using XII and IIII, with full length hour lines and half-hour ticks. The original top left-hand portion is missing and has been replaced in cement with hour lines and numerals to match. Across the bottom of the dial are two lines of inscription: ’Rev. ?. ?. CLARKE’ and ’? ? ? 1815’.
