BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial stands on a long shelf over the lintel. It is an upright oval with numerals VI - XII - IIII, aligned to the hour lines, all now very unclear. The stone lintel above the front door has an inscription ’Iam Mea mox Hujus sed posthac nescio Cujus’, with the date 1709. The motto is also to be found at Barkisland Hall, Calderdale. Patrick Leigh Fermor apparently wrote of a night’s lodging in ’A Time of Gifts’ - ’Nunc mihi, mox hujus, sed postmodo nescio cujus’ (Now mine, soon to be his, but afterwards I know not whose). Could he have seen one of these properties?
