BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

This attractive vertical dial would appear to be of bronze, with gilded furniture. The motto across the top is ’The passage of time / will devour us all’. The gnomon is a slender unsupported arrow, with an applied eight-curly-rayed sun at the root. The hour numerals are IX - XII - IV - VII, but the vertical (the local noon line) is at about 2:20pm. Thus the dial appears to be intended to show the time at about 35° east, eg around Beirut or perhaps Moscow. The dial is at ground floor level at the south west corner of the house, on the south wall, which actually faces about 10° west of south. The gnomon is offset to the west and is more appropriate for a dial facing 10° east of south, and the hour lines are roughly consistent with that, though the line labelled VI is perhaps too high. Together with the labelling of the hour lines, this is a most difficult dial to understand. More information would be appreciated.
