BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This is a bronze replacement for the iron dial shown in SRN 2535. Like the original it is a four-ring armillary sphere with ball nodus. It has mounted Roman numerals on the hour ring.
The main section of the original limestone pedestal was retained, and with a new section grafted in and a new top and stone ball, it was erected on a new set of octagonal steps. Due to the growth of the arboretum the dial was erected a short distance from its original position. An A1 information board describes the restoration.
