BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Devon

This good dial is signed ’Dollond, London’ and is probably by Peter Dollond (1731 - 1820). It is delineated with IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the outside, with a noon gap. Half and quarter hours are on an inner ring, and there are 30, 10 and 2 minute divisions on the outer ring, labelled 20, 40, 60. There is an EoT ring going anticlockwise, with watch faster/slower, and a 16-point compass rose at the centre, labelled to NNE etc. The gnomon has flattened hemispherical supporters.
