BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Somerset

The dial is at ground level. It is of Burlington slate, with bronze gnomon and gilded furniture. Zodiac markings and approximate corrections can be read from the open slit of the circular nodus. BST. The coordinates are marked, also MAL-B and BJ and the date. The motto is ’SPECTATOR PROSPECTAT’ (the owner was for many years literary editor of the Spectator magazine).
