BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Chevithorne Barton, Tiverton

This pillar dial, 1800mm high, has four faces, two for days 21 Dec to 21 June and two for 21 June to 21 Dec. The faces decline + or - 45 degrees to the axis of the path leading to the sundial. Each of the uprights is made from slabs of silver green banded with sea green Burlington slate with stainless steel dividers and four stainless steel noduses. On the top rear band face is the astronomical sign for Jupiter, a company with which the owner was closely associated. The slate was provided and cut by Burlington Slate, and engraved and constructed by Ben Jones. Delineation was by Sir Mark Lennox-Boyd. The initials MALB and BJ, and the installation date 2006, are engraved at the rear. Clevithorne Barton is home to the largest and most comprehensive oak collection in the UK and possibly in the world. It is open to the public occasionally and contact may be made on e.amory@btinternet.com
