BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial sits uncomfortably at the top of a gable on the street frontage of the house. The dial plate has a wooden backing and is fixed to the bargeboards, so that the bottom of the dial hangs free, away from the wall of the house. Upright numerals are used, VI - XII - IIII, divided to 15 and 30 minutes, with the hour lines extending throught he chapter ring. There is a gap for the substantial gnomon between 9.30 and 9.45am. Across the bottom is the motto: ‘Let others tell of storms & showers / I’ll only count your sunny hours’. Presumably the dial comes from elsewhere – it cannot have been designed for this awkward position, surely?
