BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is just inside the main entrance to the gardens, on a square-sectioned stone baluster style pedestal which previously bore the dial at SRN 0512. The fate of that earlier dial, made by Francis Barker in the 1920s (SRN 0512), is not known. The present dial has a curved EoT graph at the south, above the motto ’Sol Omnibus Lucet’. At the centre is an 8-point compass rose, labelled to NE etc. The hour numerals are V - XII - IV - VII, read from the inside, with a noon gap and labelled to 30 and 10 minutes. Inside the chapter ring is a second ring with hour and half-hour lines, and a narrow florally decorated border. The gnomon has a broad S-shaped support with floral flourishes. A plate on the east side of the top stone reads ’Erected by members of the Fruit Committee of the Royal Horticultural Society in the memory of Mr S T Wright VMH Superintendent of the Society’s Gardens 1895 - 1922 and Secretary of the Committee from 1899 to 1922’.
