BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Edmund Hall (4), Oxford

The dial is over the south porch of the library, formerly the church of St Peter in the East. Access is restricted to College opening hours, but it is just possible to see the dial from Queen’s Lane through the garden gates next to the college entrance. The lettering is v-cut, painted light grey, with a gilt sunburst and noon cross, and gilt half-hour dots. Noon is shown as a gilt cross to match the college shield. There are two date curves labelled 15 Feb and 29 Jun to commemorate respectively St Peter’s Day and the Granting of the Hall’s Charter in 1957. The date 2018 is given at the bottom of the dial plate. Upright Arabic numerals for 6am to 5pm. The dial design was based on that of a dial shown in an engraving of the south porch, with the date 1777 clearly shown on the dial. The original dial is thought to have been removed in the late 1800s.
