BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Abbot Alphege Academy, Lansdown

The dial is at the northerly end of the Beckford Drive boundary, between the playground and the perimeter fence. It is made of hand-carved and black-painted Forest of Dean pennant sandstone, 5 cm thick sundial components, and brindle colour concrete paver blocks infill. Hour points for summer hours (BST 5am to 9pm). NSEW markers, Sunrise and sunset markers, Abbot Alphege cross (purple and gold) with adjacent Alphege named stone Instruction plate in stainless steel. Pointer stones show distances and directions to 7 places linked to the life of Abbot Alphege. Four stones name the personal qualities that the school espouses. (COURAGE, WISDOM, COMPASSION, SERVICE). Date scale has inscription ‘FROM THE RISING OF THE SUN TO ITS SETTING THE NAME OF THE LORD IS TO BE PRAISED. Psalm 11).
