BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Devon

The dial stands in the lawn of Sundial House, now a care home. The square stone pedestal is mounted on a very substantial stone base, and is surmounted by a cube dial topped with a bronze Dolland horizontal. The cube has four dial faces for the cardinal points of the compass and on the base rim below each dial face is carved one Latin word. Reading counter-clockwise from the north we have ’SOLE’, ’SPLENDIDIUS’, ’QUAERE’, ’NECASTI’. All four face dials have lost their gnomons.
