BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hampshire

This good dial is on a ‘garden centre’ pedestal, about 18” high, but not fixed in place. Hour numerals are IIII-XII-IIII-VIII, read from outside, with noon gap and divided to 30, 15 and 7.5 minutes on an inner ring, and 30, 10 and 2 on an outer. There is a central 8-point compass rose labelled to NE etc. At the north is ’Made by Heath & Wing, LONDON’; and at the south is a floral design that may be a monogram. The chapter ring terminates in decorative scrolls.
