BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dunbar Town House (1), Dunbar

The Town House dates from the 16th century and is now a museum. This dial is one of a pair set into the plaster-work near the top of the clock tower (see SRN 8088 for the other). They are recorded as having been painted by Alexander Mackbyth in 1686, but their present excellent condition is due to extensive renovation of the building, completed in 2011. The grey stone face of this dial has hour lines to a small circle around the gnomon root, and no subdivisions. The upright hour numerals are Roman, using a Gothic script, and cover IX - XII - IIII. As with the companion dial, the furniture is probably engraved and is painted or filled in black, and the condition is remarkably good (as at 2011). The thin iron plate gnomon is corroded at its lower end and appears to have been repaired by the addition of a riveted sheet.
