BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is at the south end of the lake.
Motto: ’The sun provides the energy for nearly all life on Earth’
Inscription: ’Follow the fin’s shadow to find out the British Summer Time, but remember to go back 1 hour in Autumn when the clocks change!’
Hours marked in Arabic numerals from 6am (West) to 6pm (East) with 12 noon (North) and a noon gap of correct width. Hour lines appear to be correctly delineated.
Supported on three wooden legs with D-shaped cross-section.
The inscription says the dial shows British Summer Time, yet the hour lines are marked with 12 noon at the North. The dial is actually pointing about 20 degrees West of North, suggesting it was turned anti-clockwise to show BST on the day it was installed.
