BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is mounted on an octagonal section pedestal in Howard Court. It is a 12-sided piece of slate with the furniture engraved directly into the surfaces and gilded. Hours are V - XII - IV - VII, divided to halves and quarters. At the south is ’Quaerere Verum’, and around the edges ’DOWNING COLLEGE BICENTENARY 1800 - 2000’.
