BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Luton Hoo House, Luton

The dial stands on a good fluted baluster in a sunken paved area some way from the south face of the house. It has Roman hour numerals for 4am to 8pm, read from the outside, with a noon gap, divided to 30, 10, 5 and 1 minute. There is a 16-point compass rose at the centre, and Watch faster /watch slower correction rings. Heavy patina prevents details being fully visible.
