BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is just north of a footbridge over the Trent. The gnomon is a grey cone, possibly of aluminium, inscribed with ripples of blue to signify the river, and key dates in local history. The centre of the shadow marks the time. Delineation was by BSS member John Moir and artistic design was by June Duncan and Andrew Dwyer. Trapezoidal slate hour markers (approx 500x200) have the hour in Arabic, with some significant dates on each marker. There is a slate information plate including an EoT graph.
