BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Known only from web photographs and reports. More information and photos requested.
From the Historic Environment Scotland Gardens and Designed Landscapes Inventory: ’ A sundial stands on the lawn on the west side of the house. It was made for Lord Adam Gordon by Wm Robb of Montrose in 1796 and it originally stood on the lawn to the east of the house . . . the sundial [now] forms the centrepiece of the west lawn.’
The dial is just north of a footbridge over the Trent. The gnomon is a grey cone, with ripples of blue to signify the river. The centre of the shadow marks the time. Delineation was by BSS member John Moir and artistic design was by June Duncan and Andrew Dwyer. Just hour markers are visble from the photos, with some significant dates on each marker. There is an information plate including an EoT graph.
