BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hollycroft Park, Hinckley

The dial is a component of a modern astronomical sculpture showing representations of the earth, moon, planets, comets etc. The sculpture is located by the Bowling Club at the entrance to the park. A nearby board provides astronomical information on the various planets etc depicted on the sculpture. The dial is similar to a two-half-ring steel armillary sphere, but the meridian half-ring is replaced by two half-rings at an angle of some 15 degrees to the meridian (actually formed from a full ring folded along a diameter). The gnomon is a plain rod. The inset hour band is brass, and shows GMT hours 3am to 7pm, and BST 4am to 8pm in Arabic numerals with half hour marks. In the centre is the motto ’CARTE DIEM’ (sic).
