BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is laid out on a small green to the side of the main road, by the Sharnford village sign. The month marker stones are in the centre of a stylised ’flaming sun’ and the hour markers are stone slabs set in the surrounding grass. The outer band shows GMT for 6am to 5pm, the inner shows BST 7am to 6pm, all in Arabic numerals. Instructions for use are fixed to the seats on either side of the dial.
