BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Victoria Street, Chatteris

The dial is built into a wall at the edge of the road, and is upside down. It could be a cube dial but there is no direct evidence. It may have come from the Benedictine Abbey in Chatteris, which was demolished during the reign of Henry VIII (reigned 1509 - 1547). Stones from the abbey are found in various houses and walls in the surrounding town. The dial has hour lines for 6am to 6pm, but no numerals or other inscription, and no obvious sign of gnomon fixing points. It is delineated for a latitude of 45° so could have been used either as a vertical or a horizontal.
