BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea

The dial is mounted on the west end of a wall of the ’Wat Tyler Centre’, at first floor level, the wall facing approximately 5 degrees west of south. It was previously on ’The Railway’ public house in Pitsea, which was demolished in 2013 (see SRN 4977), and was relocated to its present position in 2016. The diamond shaped dial plate appears to be made of cast metal, with all furniture in relief. It uses upright Arabic hour numerals for 6am to 6pm, with hour lines to a circular sun motif, and half hour marks in the chapter ring. The date 1927 is shown at the top, above waves, with a floral decoration at the bottom. The gnomon has an ornately pierced support.
