BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Lawrence Church, Thornton Curtis

The dial is on a circular sectioned baluster plinth with spiral fluting, standing on an octagonal base on a large square stone base. It is inscribed ’Until the day breaks and the shadows fall away’. Hour numerals IIII- XII - IIII - VIII, read from inside, with split noon and divided to 30, 15 and 5 minutes. 8-point compass rose at the centre. Dedication plaque on the octagonal base step to William Wintringham Smethwick, d 1946.
