BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

The dial is a few feet to the SE of the front door, mounted on a low square sectioned plinth with inset panels, ornamental top lip, and ornamental banding to the lower part and base. Faintly engraved and worn, in the chapter ring at the south, appears to be ’John Taylor [?] 17[6?]5’. In the NE and NW corners respectivlely are ’In memory of R A Jones / 1900 - 54’ and ’First Warden of Clarence House / 1943 - 54’. The dial has numerals IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from inside and divided to 30, 15 and 5 minutes.
