BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Town Hall, New Mills

A semi-circular-topped slate dial with gilded hours, hour lines and 8-rayed star at the gnomon root, and short red half-hour markers and between the star rays. Upright Arabic hour numerals for 7am to 6pm. Dedication: "Sir Martin Doughty 1949 2009"; inscriptions: "We must use time wisely and forever realise that the time is always ripe to do right. Nelson Mandela", "An exceptional New Mills man who loved Kinder and this special town. Placed uniquely on the 2°W line, the Central Meridian. A man who achieved so much in the time he was given".
